Meet Malavika, a distinguished classical Indian dance artist and educator, whose dance odyssey began at the age of 3 under the guidance of her mother and guru, Kalamandalam Dr. Malini Nair. With an impressive roster of performances at prestigious events like the Chidambaram Natyanjali festival and numerous state-level accolades in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and Kuchipudi, Malavika's early promise bloomed into a lifelong commitment to the arts. Despite earning a degree in Civil Engineering, her undying passion for dance led her back to the arts, culminating in advanced degrees and diplomas in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi from Tamil University and Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, respectively.
As a certified instructor from Kafqa Academy, Bangalore, Malavika co-founded the Noopur Academy of Arts in Kerala, dedicating herself to nurturing budding talents in the classical dance traditions. Her teaching philosophy, deeply influenced by her mother, emphasizes the transformative power of the arts in expressing and controlling emotions, a testament to her belief in the unique voice of every artist.
Her accolades include recognition as a B-grade artist by Doordarshan Kendra in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam, and the Naatya Bhramari Award in Mohiniyattam, affirming her excellence and contribution to Indian classical dance. In addition to her achievements and responsibilities as a performer and teacher, Malavika has ventured into online tutoring, expanding her reach to students globally through Tutor-ology.
Malavika’s journey underscores the profound impact of heritage, dedication, and the arts as a medium of expression and cultural continuity. Inspired by her mother, she seeks to spread love and happiness through dance, believing in the power of hard work and the arts to achieve greatness and inspire the next generation of artists.
