Priyash got a bachelor’s in performing arts from Banaras Hindu University in Tabla. His training as a percussionist started early in life. He went on to get a diploma in Tabla from BHU and Prayag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad.

A bright smile on his face always and fingers tapping objects in his vicinity, Priyash is a delight to watch on stage. He has a passion for percussion that is rare to find. With a four year professional experience in the field, he has played with stalwarts round the country.

Even as a kid Priyash’s inclination towards music was evident. Once in school he carefully noticed one of the music instructors playing the Tabla. The attempt to play like him soon turned into the first ever beat that he learnt, and that’s where his journey truly began from.

With influences like Sivamani and Pandit Sanju Sahai of the Banaras Gharana, Priyash found his calling early on in life. Watching Sivamani play at a music festival enthralled him like never before, and in that moment he knew exactly what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

Drums and the Tabla have accompanied him like the best of friends ever since he associated himself with the world of percussion. Buying the first set of drums with money he had saved was like a dream come true. The gratitude he has for the place that gave him his dream led to him volunteering at the Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh. Priyash, a great artist in the making.
