Punya Halder has been dedicated to the field of music for 37 years, having started his professional journey at the age of 15 in 1987. His exceptional talent was recognized early on by Maestro Ananta Makhal, who selected him as an eligible student out of 100 and encouraged him to pursue a career in music education, particularly violin.
Punya’s musical journey began even earlier, at the age of three, under the guidance of his father, Rev. Fr. Theodore Mathieson. With his father's support, Punya completed his Grade 8 degree from ABRSM and pursued several international musical certifications. His father’s gift of a valuable violin marked the beginning of Punya’s lifelong dedication to music and teaching.
Influenced by his father, Maestro Ananta Makhal, and his school teacher, Mr. Subhas Biswas, Punya was inspired to lead an artistic journey in music. He strongly believes that while academic education builds careers, proper music education builds character.
With over three decades of experience, Punya is passionate about shaping the next generation of musicians. At ArtGharana, he is committed to guiding students through their own musical journey, helping them not only master the violin but also cultivate a lifelong love for music and a strong sense of character through their learning.
